Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ, and a public confession of faith in Him. It’s an outward sign of an inward change, symbolizing your connection with Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. When you're baptized, you’re publicly declaring your faith and your decision to live a new life in Christ. As it says in Romans 6:4, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
At VIVA Church, we’re excited to celebrate this significant step in your faith journey. Come join us and experience the joy and transformation of baptism, just as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Anyone who has made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ and has accepted Him as their Lord and Saviour can be baptized.
No, baptism is not a requirement for salvation. It is a symbolic act that follows your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior.
We have a Baptism Prep course that will prepare you for Baptism Sunday. It's a requirement to take the course to be baptized.
On Baptism Sunday, we will provide a t-shirt for you and we recommend wearing dark, modest clothing that you don't mind getting wet. Don't forget a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards!
Yes, children can be baptized if they understand the meaning of baptism and have made a personal decision to follow Jesus. We recommend discussing this with one of our pastors to ensure your child is ready.
At VIVA, we dedicate babies and small children as a symbol of their parent's faith and commitment to raise their children according to Christ. For Baby Dedications, please sign up by clicking here.
If you were baptized as a baby, we encourage you to consider being baptized again as an adult to make a personal, public declaration of your faith. This can be a powerful affirmation of your commitment to Jesus.
If you have any other questions about water baptism, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help and support you on your faith journey!
